Roasters thoughts: “Unfortunately the current worldwide situation has delayed these coffees. We generally land them late June. They’re finally here and oh boy it’s not disappointing!”

Shakiso Washing Station is located about 3 kilometers from Shakiso town. The farms here are at very high elevation, and the coffee grows in red-brown clay soil that is very fertile. The washing station is located near a natural spring, and the fresh water is used for processing the Washed lots.

According to the washing station manager, most of the coffee delivered to the factory is Bourbon: While Typica and Bourbon are two varieties better-known in Central and South America, the same terms are used colloquially in Ethiopia to describe certain coffee-berry-disease-resistant cultivars. The Ethiopian “Bourbon” and “Typica” varieties are typically genetically removed from the ones found elsewhere around the world.

Mouthfuls of fruit

I had been told this was quite a fruit driven roast but was not prepared for how strong it would actually be. I've never had a coffee like this before, and while not a huge fan of this style (I prefer the heavier chocolate/buttery ones) am definitely glad I tried it, and can easily recommend it for those who prefer a fruitier style coffee.
